Don't we need more bowl games?

Posted: Tuesday, November 06, 2007 12:25 PM

While trying to figure out what Tom Osborne is waiting for, I’m here to pose this week’s 20 questions:

After so much chaos, wouldn’t it be amazing if the Heisman Trophy ended up in the hands of the guy who was at the top of the list at the beginning of the season … Mr. Darren McFadden? And how about breaking off a little piece of it for his running mate Felix Jones?

Is it too late to create a few more bowl games? With only 32 available, how are they going to find places to play for all those SEC teams?

Remember way back when Saturday’s USC-California game was supposed to be a big deal? Are those people still living up in the trees outside Memorial Stadium? Or have they lost interest in the Golden Bears just like the rest of us?

Against all odds, has the WAC officially surpassed the MWC (also known as the “old WAC”)?

Now that they’ve only got good teams left on their schedule (Arizona State, Oregon and USC), are the Bruins ready to make a strong stretch run?  Or would that be the worst thing possible for UCLA alums eager to show Karl Dorrell the door?

Why would Tommy Tuberville want to leave Auburn to tackle the mess at Texas A&M? Is the state of Alabama no longer safe with Nick Saban running things now?

Is there a better running back on a worse team than Matt Forte (1,642 yards, 6.3 per carry, 15 touchdowns) of Tulane (1-4 in C-USA, 2-7 overall)?

What’s with these sudden three-game losing streaks by one-time contenders?  After Cal pulled out of its tailspin last week, can South Florida (as Syracuse) and South Carolina (vs. Florida) do the same?

Now that he put UConn on the college football map, where will Randy Edsall work his magic next season? How about another hot name in coaching circles, Oregon offensive coordinator Chip Kelly?

Is it my imagination or is Notre Dame getting worse as the season progresses? Shouldn’t all of the young players that Charlie Weis has out there be getting better by now?

These types of things don’t fluster me since I’m from the same island, but did you know that the full name of the quarterback now linked in Navy football lore with Roger Staubach is Kaipo-Noa Hiwahiwa Akahi Kaheaku-Enhada?

If oregon can win out and win out big,I think they go to the NC game. They have the hardest part of their schedule behind them and the other teams seem to have have it the other way around, as they have to play each other.Anyway you look at it, this has been the best season in college football with lots more to go.
I agree we have enough bowl games. I think they are already running out of names. Lets not mention the Heisman, that has become the joke of college football. It should be the best player in NCAA football not the best player on the #1 team as the taking heads have you believe.
