Time again for 20 questions

Posted: Wednesday, December 19, 2007 10:47 PM

While getting set for the Poinsettia Bowl, the first of 32 bowl games, I’m here to pose this week’s 20 questions:

When you think about students possibly cheating on a test, wouldn’t an online music history course be among the furthest things from your mind?

When fans complain about “not getting into the BCS,” why don’t they just say what they really mean? Isn’t it more accurate to just say that Missouri deserves to have a bigger payout than Kansas? Other than that … what’s so bad about playing in the history-rich Cotton Bowl against Arkansas, which will be playing for the last time with Darren McFadden and without Bobby Petrino (for at least 13 games or so)?

Since UCLA’s lethargic search for a head coach is already scraping rock bottom as evidenced by Temple’s Al Golden receiving a second interview, how about giving a guy by the name of Karl Dorrell a shot at it? Doesn’t he have everything they’re looking for -- UCLA roots, head coaching experience and a perfect history in getting his teams into bowl games (5-for-5)? Won’t it be comforting to whoever lands the Bruin job that another “fifth choice,” Pete Carroll, has done fairly well in Los Angeles?

Which are you looking forward to seeing more, Michigan’s new offense or Georgia Tech’s?

Is it just me or does it seem like players/coaches/teams/fans don’t appreciate bowl games like they used to? Shouldn’t there be more love for postseason games that don’t have a massive $17 million payout? Isn’t there a lot more to the postseason than the over-hyped Bowl Championship Series, which mostly features teams improperly matched against each other?

Assuming LSU wins the BCS title, how many more years will pass before we see a team be at three-time No. 1 in a single season? Or is this is the beginning of a new topsy-turvy era in college football?

Which quarterback would you draft first -- Andre’ Woodson, Brian Brohm or Matt Ryan?  Or would you have to go with hogback Darren McFadden?

I know Mark Richt thinks that there is some sort of magic in those black jerseys, but doesn’t it make more sense to attempt to “Red Out” the Superdome for the Sugar Bowl game against Hawaii, whose official colors are green, black, white and silver?  Since Warrior fans generally wear a lot of black, will Richt try to take credit for that section of the stadium as well?

By the way, has Arkansas named Petrino’s successor yet?  How about Nick Saban?

Don’t you think Lawyer Milloy has a promising future as an editor after his playing days are over?
