Florida is not invincible and might make a mistake I wouldn't give them the national title yet they have lost a game this season(remember) no matter how they are playing now it doesn't matter...Also UGA beat themselves with a lot of stupid mistakes in the game yesterday so even though they lost they played their worst game since the Tenn game last year.Like Saban said whoever is number 1 at the end is number one and I assure you he and Alabama are capable of beating Florida and they just might too.Also believe it or not South Carolina will give Florida a good game I do not think they will roll over and die like Florida thinks... their defense is much better than UGA.

"Florida would be solidly favored in the SEC Championship Game against either Alabama or LSU". Maybe against LSU, but solidly favored against Alabama? You dont know Nick Saban that well junior. And Florida was solidly favored against Ole Miss also and we see how that turned out. It is possible they could be favored against Alabama, but not "solidly". Dont count out FSU or South Carolina against them either.

The logic is faulty, anyway. A loss this late in the season knocks them out of the race whether they are #1, or #2. Or #3, #4, #5, etc...

All I can keep thinking is if Alabama can run the table and find some way to beat Florida in the SEC Championship(to be honest, Florida scares the devil out of me), can you IMAGINE the hype over an Alabama-PSU Championship game??

The defending National champs are ranked somewhere around 15th or 16th in the polls. There's a reason for that.

PSU isn't ranked #2...they got jumped...glad you assume things...why on earth would a team with a bye out of the big ten (the whole league sucks this year) move up....I hope Mich State (not a fan) beats PSU and we can keep the big 10 out of the national title....atleast for this year

Sure we want to be #1!

As an alumni and fan, I still want my team to stay focused and not get too big-headed because of the ranking. We still have three regular-season challenges (LSU, Miss State and then Auburn) and then hopefully the SEC Championship game before any additional games can be considered.

Regardless of where Alabama sits in the final poll this year, it has been a great year to wear crimson and white. Roll Tide!

Earlier in the year, when USC lost AT Oregon State they were slipped to, what was it, 11th? Texas loses and how far do they slide? And don’t go to that “quality of opponent” stuff, because it just doesn’t add up; had the Red Raiders not pulled out the miracle, they'd have slid waaaay down for losing at home.
This entire “system” is a bias sham! I feel very, very sorry for whoever will be to facing the Trojans in the New Year; that game is going to get very, very ugly, very, very fast.

All I have to say to all the Florida homers and Gator lovers is don't count your chickens before that hatch. Both Alabama and Florida have challenging games left to end the regular season. Alabama has LSU and Miss St. Florida has South Carolina and Florida St. If they both win out and actually play in the Championship game, Florida might be favored but not by much. ROLL TIDE.

Both, the Pac-10 and Big-10 are terrible. A team has to play quality opponents to be seriously considered for the national championship. (see: Big 12 and SEC) Does anyone really believe that USC or Penn St. would survive the schedule Texas has played?
