Shaq vs Kobe. Fox vs Piazza. Carroll vs Chow. The USC vs Ucla college football rivalry is becoming less about the kids on the field, and more about the millionaires that coach them. The players are becoming pawns in their chess match.

Pete Carroll, I love ya for what you've done to bring back pride and tradition to USC. Norm Chow, I love ya for the game plans and development of athletes that you brought to USC. I only wish that you both could of gotten along and dream of all the national championships we could of shared....

But when Pete and Norm both leave for the NFL, which no doubt will happen, I will be happy to get our college football program back.

Neuheisel following in Carroll's footprints

Wow!

Neuheisel following in Carroll's footprints

Yeah, whatever Mike. SC's been in a BCS Bowl every year since 2002 and have won the Pac-10 every year since 2002. Oh, that's right, didn't Reggie win the Heisman WITHOUT Chow? Yes, 13-9 was bad, but flukey, and we were that close on getting to the BCS this year. Next year we'll be there. I love Norm, but he's a total head case, always shopping around for a new job. He's needy and always needs to stroked. Yeah, Coach Skippy (RN) isn't going to micromanage the quarterbacks, right. Skippy is going to stroke Norm's ego 7/24/365. Right. It's a match made in USC heaven. And unless they can recruit massive beef on the 0-Line, forget it.

And Mike, get back to what Paul Hackett? Man, what planet are you posting from. Norm is about yesterday, Sark is about tomorrow.

Anyone see the Rose Bowl?

Neuheisel following in Carroll's footprints

I think it's actually great for both programs, and as for football in LA....the next few years will be great! Both programs will only push each other to do better. However, my point is this.... not only will UCLA replicates its coaching recruiting like USC, but in the bigger picture, they are simply putting together an atletic program that like USC, will generate a lot of profit for the school.

I have been mad for the longest time that UCLA and its boosters only cared about basketball although with its rich history and legacy built by Wooden. For the past decade, they never really went out there to get a good coaching staff in order to establish a great football program. Now, they are serious about football.... and it's about time.... below is the reason why:

USC!!! They spent the money to get a good coaching staff, hence great recruiting with championship caliber performance year after year. Not to mention all the sales profit from jerseys and endorsements for "USC" brands. From knowing this, did you notice USC basketball program lately??? With its coaching changes and oh yes.... O.J. Mayo, who could have probably went to UNC or cross town to UCLA if he wanted to. They are spending money made from football and investing it in basketball to built a powerhouse atletic department. I just think this is great for college sports and LA.

Nevertheless, USCMike may have said its not about the kids, but ultimately it is, because kids will want to work hard and nurture their talent with goals to get a scholarship from USC, UCLA, LSU, or any other powerhouse college out there. Great coaches motivate, teaches, and fine-tune their kids to prepare them for the future.

I wouldn't mind watching a great game between the two each year.... blow out college games are boring these days.... USC should have played Georgia in the Rose Bowl this year... that would have been interesting.

Neuheisel following in Carroll's footprints

Oh please, I'm a UCLA grad and this is typical La La Land drama... couldn't be written better by the writer's guild which is still on strike. All SC has to hang their hat on is football and that soon will be tarnished when the NCAA lays down the Bush penalties. That detination will erase any sign of NCAA Championships and his Heisman off the face of the earth and in the meantime UCLA dominates like they did for 8 straight years in the 90's. Get over yourselves Trojan fans. You're very over-rated and not as great as you think. Chow, Neuheisel and Walker will transform the Bruins into a National Power within three years while Pete will bolt and the Trojans will flounder.

Neuheisel following in Carroll's footprints

Mike...dream on. He remembers how his "Bruin Family (sic)" treated him when he wanted to come back before. Now, because his heart has embraced the Trojan Family, he is accepted, appreciated and praised as one of us. Will UCLA ever achieve a similar atmosphere? They really have not even done that in Basketball, have they? The two universities and their cultures are and always will be so very different. The fast food drive through approach to the college experience will never consistently compete with the Trojans and their life long ties to each other and the university. Not Norm Chow, not DeWayne Walker, not Rick or even Knute Rockne could make a permanent difference. There may be some limited success for the bruins, but they will not become a lasting culture of excellence in football. They just don't have the heart. And they don't truly understand why it is so very important to achieve success in football and in life. Fight On.

Neuheisel following in Carroll's footprints

this is just to add location to my earlier submission. thanks.

Neuheisel following in Carroll's footprints

Given Neuheisel's reputation for skipping out on his scholarship athlete's he's made promises to (Colorado, Washington), there is no way in hell I wouyld trust UCLA or it's caching staff to deliver on any promises made to a recruit. UCLA's hiring of Neuheisel is a gigantic step backward. He's like having a cow who gives a great bucket of milk, only to kick it over when the milking is done. As a former football player myself, USC brings to the table what UCLA hasn't figured out yet......pride, hustle, & emotion, and FOLLOW-THROUGH

Neuheisel following in Carroll's footprints

I guess u people from southern cal don't read the papers.
